Curly, Three Stooges & Dogs - Fun Doggie Fact

Just a fun tidbit for the day. With our doggie charity event coming up, I wanted to share some dog related posts!

I am strangely a huge fan of the Three Stooges. I love Curly's crazy antics and falls, and floor spins and spazz outs over cheese and mice. I ran across this photo a while back and wanted to share some fun info about him!

Of course, I'm sure you know about Curly's strokes and the aftermath, and that he was later replaced by his brother Shemp in the show, so I'll skip all that. I thought it was interesting that he was crazy about dogs! Dogs have always had a big role in humans lives - and I always love stumbling across stuff like this photo. After his health had declined, Curly stayed at his home and spent lots of time with his dogs, Lady, Salty and Shorty :) Once he entered the hospital, he missed his dog, Lady, and asked Moe to bring her to the hospital to stay with him. It's a sad story, but it's wonderful to know that having his dogs brought happiness and comfort to him through his declining health.

Because pets make our lives whole. Charity and giving is a big part of our life and our studio - we always give when we can, and we try to do a couple studio events each year to collect food for people in need - this event is specifically for the FUZZY people in need. It's terrifying that so many pets are being deserted and dropped off at shelters because their humans can no longer afford to feed them. This will be our third year doing this warm & fuzzy pet promotion.

Lend a helping paw to those without a voice!

Handsome Little "J" { Winston Salem Baby Photographers }

Little "J" was such a cute - and sweet - little guy! He was just 2 & 1/2 months old, but very tall already, and had lots of dark hair - and the brightest brown eyes! He was really into the cute hootie owl that I sat beside the basket we nestled him in, so into it in fact, that we had to hide it away because he didn't want to stop looking at it :)

Wee Little "C" { Winston Salem Newborn Photographers }

We SO enjoyed working with little "C" and her mommy, and little "C"'s 3 big sisters! "C"'s mommy decided it would be much easier to get everyone together and in one place if we brought our studio to them, so we did! We brought lots of blankets, hats, headbands, furs, wraps, the list goes on and on :) We had a blast working with them, and trying to get a shot of the four girls together (all under the age of 7!). We had some funny mishaps along the way that we weren't quite prepared for, but it was still a fun morning, and we got some gorgeous shots of little "C" - she was such a tiny and petite little birdie!

Ordering Deadlines & Eskimo Kisses!

The insanity has begun. Okay, how was it 95 degrees and summer a week ago and the day after tomorrow is Black Friday? Seriously, where did Fall go? I haven't had a lot of time to blog lately - I'm sorry guys! I hope that you have been keeping up with our Facebook fan page - we post there daily with lots of previews from sessions we're working on, studio news and happenings, and other fun stuff. Once the holiday rush is over, we will be back to posting previews on our blog, too.

I just wanted to take a couple of minutes to post some deadlines for ordering and the holidays.

{ ESKIMO KISSES } Eskimo Kisses Limited Edition mini sessions that have marshmallow roasting, ice fishing, falling snow and a surprise visit from Santa will only be booked through December 15th. All other holiday sessions will only be scheduled through December 15th. The sessions ending at this date allow enough time for editing and ordering before Christmas. Sessions are booked from 10am-4pm daily. We will not be booking any sessions after December 15th until after the New Year so we can share the holidays with our family :)

{ ORDERING DEADLINES } This is a particular thing that I want to update everyone on.

*Custom Ornaments and Jewelry must be ordered by December 1st or we can not promise that it will arrive in time for the holidays.

*I'm sure you know that custom products (such as Holiday cards, Storyboards, Accordion Albums, and Storybooks/Brag Books) DO take a couple of days for creation, editing, proofing and making changes, etc. These customized products HAVE TO BE FINALIZED and sent to print by Friday, December 16th in order to get them back before Christmas.

*All other prints and mounted prints must be ordered by Monday, December 19th in order to get them back before Christmas.

The studio will open for pick-ups (by appointment only) through Friday, December 23rd at 4pm, and then we will be closed throughout the holidays and will not reopen until Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012.

Santa Clause is coming to Fantasy Photography again! This year's theme is even more fun than last year's - and we're so excited about it! Get into the holiday spirit with our Limited Edition “Eskimo Kisses” theme complete with ice fishing, marshmallow roasting, falling snow and a surprise visit from Santa!

Sessions by appointment only.
November 1st - December 15th
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily.

Session Fee is $35.00 for one child for a 20 minute “mini” session, with a special appearance by Santa! Please add $5 for each additional child in the same session. Prints and products purchased separately.
*Your choice of ice fishing OR marshmallow roasting. Santa’s visit is optional. We like to keep a positive atmosphere for children, thus if your child does not want to see Santa, please do not force them to.

We recommend dressing your child in either Christmas pj’s or a colorful winter outfit with boots, hat and scarf.

Halloween was a blast! { WINSTON SALEM CHILDREN'S PHOTOGRAPHER }

We had SO much fun at our 2011 Halloween Charity and Open House!

We had lots of cute goblins stop by the studio and their parents brought lots of canned and boxed goods to be donated to East Stokes Outreach Ministry! We are SO happy to let you guys know that we were able to collect 81 items to go to needy families in our area! Thank everyone SO much for thinking about those in need and participating in our event!

My husband got all Martha Stewart and made these adorable googly-eyed pumpkins as an alternative to the classic triangle eyed jack-o-lanterns...

Who would have known they would be SO time consuming though? Geez!

Okay, so I swiped this bird idea out of Pottery Barn's October catalog :)

I brought in real leaves from our Sugar Maples out front - SO VIBRANT!

H's Senior Session { WINSTON SALEM SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER }

So... we finally got a chance to snatch up a quick getaway to the mountains of West Virginia to relax, visit family, and do our niece's senior pics. The weather was CHILLY up there compared to here (40s lows, 50s highs!), the foliage was beautiful and peaked in spots, and almost bare in others. "H"'s session went perfect - we travelled to Valley Falls to shoot by the water, which was gorgeous! I'd never been there, so it was an exciting new location for me - I wish we had somewhere like that in our area!

OMG - I can't believe another one of my little clients just turned one! They're all growing up on me! "H" came to the studio as pretty as ever, with some really cute cupcakes to play with during the session. She is such a cutie - her mom had made the cutest diaper cover with a 1 on it, and flowers on the butt :) We switched out the background and "H" put on one of our petti rompers to switch things up a bit and she had a blast!

Sweet "P" is 6 months! { WINSTON SALEM BABY PHOTOGRAPHER }

Sweet "P" is 6 months! That's scary - it seems like only a couple of weeks ago when we did her 3 month session. Where has the time gone? It's already a week into October, and Christmas is just around the corner! Anyway, when I chatted with Sweet "P"s mommy to book her 6 month session, I told her to try and wait for Sweet "P" to sit up unassisted, so we waited, and in the short amount of time between booking and the day of the session, Sweet "P" was crawling - so we ended up chasing her all over the place! It's amazing how fast babies grow, and change, and learn, and reach new milestones - I think that's a big part of the reason why I love what I do so much - I get to capture that, and I never know what to expect or plan for :)

Tiny little "M" was too cute! She fought sleep when she and her mom first arrived at the studio, but once she cozied down in the egg basket with a fuzzy blanket, she was out :) We got to use some of our new props with her, like the adorable bed below, as well as a really cute bunting and lace headband made by our buddy, Erin, at Dinner Time Chimes . She makes our studio some of the cutest props! And I am SO loving that cute little smirk below...

Olde World and "J" { Winston Salem Children's Photographer }

This session was one of those sessions where everything just falls into place. The weather was gorgeous, the sky was overcast so the light was soft, the location was perfect (and practically empty!) and we had the cutest subject for the session :) I was able to shoot 100% natural light without any supplemental light. When I got home and dumped my card, I couldn't believe how amazing the shots were. Little to NO editing, the exposure was perfect, the colors - amazing. I had the toughest time narrowing down the images for mom and dad - they were ALL so beautiful! My husband even got the "magazine cover" shot below, where "J" was sitting on the suitcase and looking away. After finding this location, stocking up on the props and getting such amazing shots of "J", we've decided to offer this session theme - Olde World - as a new Limited Edition for children, families and couples!

Little "L" was a wee little guy - and a sleepyhead, too! He loved cozying down in the egg basket that we tucked him into wrapped in a fuzzy blanket. After having a quick snack, he was out - and we were able to get the cutest shot ever with his head in his hands :) He was such a sweet little guy!

Sometimes it's a fun challenge to get out of the studio and try shooting something other that what you're used to. It gets you out of your comfort zone and forces you to try different settings, adapt to the harsh sunlight and play with lighting to get the correct exposure. It almost resets your brain and creativity! I thought it would be fun to go out to the butterfly garden that we planted in the Spring and try to get some shots of whatever creatures I could find out there, plus the sun was shining so it would be challenging :) Here are a few of the shots that I came away with...

Itty Bitty "C" was an adorable little one! She was very wiggly and alert - making us giggle every time we would get her little hands or feet tucked away - somehow she would manage to wiggle at least one out :) She was also VERY smiley - I love the shot with her GA Tech gear and her smirk!

Baby "A" has arrived!

He was SO tiny, but very wiggly and strong for just two weeks new! He slept almost the whole session through, only fussing a bit here and there when he would get cozy and I would have to move his hand to tuck him and pose him. I got to try out some of our new props with him, including the blue bird hat - and it was ADORABLE! Fall is my favorite time of the year, and tiny "A"'s mommy's favorite, too, so we tried a cute fall themed set-up, along with coaxing big brother in for a few shots :)

CAKE SMASH! { WINSTON SALEM BABY PHOTOGRAPHER }

I laughed SO hard at little S. She was very serious...until we broke out the bubbles. I have NEVER heard a baby laugh SO hard at bubbles - EVER! It was the funniest thing! I laughed the whole time I was shooting - I will admit that I had to delete several shots that were blurry because of camera shake from laughing so hard! S is such a cutie and she had a blast with her cake smash. Once the yummy cake came out, she totally forgot about the bubbles and disappeared into her own little sugary world. Ahhh, to be that age again and be able to cram cake in your face without feeling bad about it :)

Little "E" is 2! { WINSTON SALEM CHILDRENS PHOTOGRAPHER }

:-( All my little clients are growing up! I can't believe that little "E" is two already! Time flies! She brought Monkey along for the session, so we took one of our new props outside for little "E" and Monkey - a baby bed - and she loved it! As hot as it was outside, she still had to tuck Monkey in and make sure he was covered up enough (which was totally buried under the blanket at the very bottom, lol).

Funniest things overheard at Carolina Shinefest + Recap!

It's always fun to go to festivals and shows to display our work. We hear all sorts of comments about the images that we have with us, as well as comments on our tutus and other goodies that we have under our tent. Sometimes they are directly to us, sometimes people say them as they're passing by. I laughed A LOT this weekend, dispite the nasty heat, and I wanted to share a couple of the funniest things overheard at our tent :)

-Husband says to wife, "Want me to buy you a tutu?"
Wife retorts, "Only if you'll wear it when we get home."

-Woman walks by our tent with friend and says about me, "I though she was a mannequin."

-Six different people passing by the tent talking about a newborn image, "That photo was staged. I've never seen a baby do that."

-Couple walking by the tent and looking at hair flowers, girl says to guy, "Your ex would love those."

-Husband says to wife, "Let's go. I ain't sweatin' up my new hat or I'll have to throw it away."

This was our first festival that we've ever done in July. Overall it was a good time. Extremely HOT on Saturday - 99 degrees and humid. Even with us constantly chugging water, we both had signs of dehydration before the end of the day - and we were so sore and worn out when we woke up on Sunday to get ready. Everyone just looked SO hot - and not in a good way, lol - flushed, rosy cheeks, sweaty, pale. Quiet. Everyone tried to take cover in the shade from the buildings downtown. Around 2pm, the sky clouded over and we had a 15 minute storm, which cooled it off at least 15 degrees. When the rain stopped, the atmosphere totally changed. People were gathering in the streets talking and laughing. Laughter. You could just hear laughter. Which meant that people were having fun! Kids were playing and giggling. It was crazy. We had about an hour of the cooler weather before the sun came back out and then it was nasty humid. Sunday was a lot cooler. The high was 84 degrees, but around 4pm, it rained. And rained. And rained. As hot as it was, I didn't mind getting caught in the rain. I had prepared for it, so I just covered all my prints and canvases, pulled everything to the middle of the tent, and hung out (with a yummy sweet tea from Fuzzy's that was set-up across from us). So the festival was cut short by about an hour. Overall, the crowd was huge (thousands!) and we met lots of wonderful people, booked several sessions, got to see some of our clients, and almost sold out of hair flowers completely! That means we'll be making a run to Hobby Lobby this week so I can re-stock the studio and stock up for our next festival in a couple weeks :)

I can't wait to do it again. I also overheard that it may possibly be moved to May or September (YAY!) next year.

What's a Portrait Party?
It's a fun get-together with a bunch of girlfriends with children for a playdate, and have us come to one location for mini sessions. With us not having to travel to more than one location, we can offer shorter sessions at a reduced session fee. These are becoming especially popular at birthday parties and sleepovers! One mom "hosts" the portrait party (the host gets a complimentary session!), and organizes it by having her friends book, decide on a theme (if any - or we can just do regular portraits), picks a location, and collects the session fees from her girlfriends (which are due one week prior to the party). The more girlfriends you can get to book, the more goodies you receive! On the day of the party, we meet you and your friends, shoot all the sessions back-to-back and then we handle the rest for you :)

Okay, I'm starting to consider adding "guaranteed nap after" to our session info :) Little "C"'s mommy told me he slept for over three hours after they left the studio, too!

Little "C" was so sweet! He was very content, and very alert for just two weeks! He refused to fall asleep in the studio, but still cozied up in our fuzzy blankets in an egg basket, and enjoyed being swaddled and bundled up like a little burrito in a new cheesecloth that we got in last week. I am SO in love with the nest shot that I got below!

"T" came to the studio on his birthday for his 1 year session. His mom always has the cutest ideas, and she brought a fish bowl and a couple of goldfish for him to play with :) He was really excited about the fish! I'm not sure if he enjoyed trying to catch them or just playing in the water most, but he had a blast - and I was told that he had worn himself out so much that he took a three hour nap after he got home! We also did some fun indoor shots with some VERY realistic (and very durable - even survived a one year old throwing them numerous times!) cupcakes - little "T" was tricked by them and attempted to take a bite...several times :)

*Don't worry - we promise no goldfish were harmed during the creation of little "T"'s cute portraits!

Bubble Fun...and a new Backdrop! { WINSTON SALEM CHILDREN'S PHOTOGRAPHY }

Miss "M" came by the studio and had a blast playing with the bubbles! Bubbles are just magical - whether you are a child OR adult. There's just something so amazing in them that stops even the most busy children in their tracks. They are fun to catch, to blow and chase, mainly fun to pop :) I love to see a child's eyes light up when the bubbles come out during a session!

I was really excited to try out my new backdrop that my much talented husband created for me! It is two-sided and photographs beautifully! One side is Purple Coneflower and the other is Teal Tint (I swear, that's the name, lol). They are BOLD, but lovely, especially with a vignette!

Whew! This was a really fun and exciting challenge for us! We've never done twins, triplets, or multiples of any age, and I was SO anticipating this session!

Three little boys - and they were so sweet and tiny! They slept through almost everything! I do have to confess, once I would get two tucked and posed, and go to tuck the third one, one of the first two had moved or I caused "the domino effect" when messing with the third, but it went wonderful! I would almost dare to say that working with multiples went more smoothly than a single newborn (they almost seemed to nuzzle and comfort each other), but then again I could have just gotten lucky with these little guys :-)

I ♥ my job!

Little "M" is on our Bella Bebe program, so she came in for her 9 month session...and she was SO playful! She screamed and yelled and chatted as she played - we laughed so hard at her screaming and playing! I really believe she's been the loudest of babies in the studio so far! I giggled so much that I had to stop shooting a couple of times! She was crawling, so she kept us on the move chasing her...but I wouldn't have it any other way :-) That's what I love about my job! You never know what to expect with babies and children - every one is unique and has their own personality - so working with children, you never shoot the same session twice :-)

I really enjoyed A's senior session! His family has history with our 100 year old home, so they wanted to do the session here - and I'm happy they did! We wanted to get creative and a little edgy, so when we found out A played the drums, I had a vision :-) We sat them up in the middle of the field and had A play. It worked beautifully - the light was perfect and golden, I got gorgeous rim lighting, and I love the feel of the photos!

I love when I get to work with people that I went to school with! It's doing a fun session with someone that you know, and catching up at the same time! I watched the weather ALL week while we were planning "C"'s session. Of course, while driving to Tanglewood Park in Clemmons to meet her for her session, it started raining! We had to find shelter - and quick! We did manage to get a few shots on the walkway by the flowers as we were leaving. They turned out WONDERFUL - despite the nasty weather - and, I was able to talk my husband into taking me to Cracker Barrel for some yummy breakfast and coffee after the session :-)

I was SO excited to finally have warm weather to get outside and shoot again! Our Forsythia shrubs are in full bloom, and we have lots of other things starting to pop up! Miss "H" was patient for her four year session, while we did a few shots in the studio in her new dress, but she couldn't wait to go out to play! I gave her one of our paper parasols to play with, and she really had a hard time controlling it because of the wind, lol! I still got some really great shots with it and her hair blowing in the wind :-)

I always have to do some of Miss "H"'s portraits in Chocolate and White - she just looks amazing!

Little Miss "C" came in for her one-year session, and I couldn't believe how much she had grown since her last session! She brought the cutest little rocking chair for her session, and was happy to sit in it! She always has adorable and sassy little outfits - I loved the denim outfit she wore with the cropped jacket! Mom loves tutus, so we've done a different color each time she has came in for a session (even red for Christmas!), so this time we tried purple...and Miss "C" was BEAUTIFUL in purple! I love the way the purple looked with her skin tone and her big blue eyes!

She got to play dress-up in several adorable outfits, and had a tea party with Monkey :) I even got to use a new prop that I picked up at the end of fall - a purple parasol! Busy as a bug, little "E" was a fun, energetic little 18 month old, so we had to bribe her with candy (bribery gets you everywhere, sometimes!)...and my husband made a new best friend!

WHWT 2010 - Looking Back { Winston Salem Pet Photography }

I thought I would share the slideshow from last year's Warm Hearts for Wagging Tails pet charity event. We collected over 350 pounds of pet food and treats (and even a couple chew toys!) for homeless pets in local shelters. It was a CRAZY two days - we photographed 37 dogs in two days, one of the days we had NO power thanks to an ice storm, and finished both days covered in hair and doggy kisses. Tips on Choosing a Wedding Photographer { Winston Salem Wedding Photography }

Hi Guys! I wanted to blog a bit about something I came across while playing with my keywords in Google Adwords.

I was tweaking my keywords (which are the words people enter into the search box on Google's main page to find things they are looking for), and was looking to see some of the recent searches people had entered when searching for local wedding photographers and BANG! I saw something that shocked me!

Someone had searched "$200.00 Wedding Photographer in Winston Salem"!

This inspired me to blog on the subject for a bit and give the future brides out there some tips on choosing their wedding photographer.

1. Be Picky! It is OKAY to be picky when you are choosing your photographer! Actually, choose several and "interview" them or consult with them to make sure that you are compatible. I always try to get to know my clients and make sure our personalities are compatible. During your consult, your photographer should also ask questions and get all of your wedding information from you. Ask for references from past weddings they have shot, and follow-up on them! Most past clients will be happy to give their HONEST opinion of their experience with the photographer - good OR bad.

2. Their Work. View your photographer's online portfolio and ask to see a hard copy of their portfolio when you meet in person. They should have no issues with showing you a hard copy. Be sure that you like your photographer's style - if you don't, then keep looking for a photographer whose style you DO like. This is the photographer's ONE CHANCE to capture your memories and if their style and your style conflict, then you are going to be stuck with a lot of images that won't represent you or your special day. Make sure your photographer will capture images of your dress, your bouquet, your shoes, ALL the details that you have poured your heart into over the past year of planning.

3. Price. I can't stress this enough. PLEASE DON'T choose your photographer SOLELY on the price of their services. I have seen TOO many horror photos and heard too many stories about how people have shopped by price and got exactly what they paid for. I understand that prices vary based on location of the studio, but $200.00 for a full day of photography, including a high-resolution CD of images? Keep in mind that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

4. Products. Ask to see samples of your photographer's products, albums, canvases or anything else that you are interested in purchasing. They should be happy to show them to you and explain all of the options to you. Ask which lab they outsource to, and make sure it's a professional lab. If they are sending your images to a consumer lab or drugstore, the quality will suffer, and you will not be happy with the final result. Your photographer should offer complete image finishing, not just shoot-and-burn un-edited images straight out of the camera to a CD for you.

5. Contract. This is the biggie! Don't be afraid to sign a contract with the photographer you choose. Be afraid NOT to! The contract binds both of you to the transaction, so you can feel relieved and not have to worry about them showing up on your wedding day.

In conclusion, please find a photographer whose work you LOVE, even if you have to pay more for them. Your wedding photography is truly an investment, and you have to solely rely on this person to capture your memories of the day.

Happy New Year everyone!

We had a WONDERFUL and AMAZING year in 2010, met lots of new clients, got to spend time with current clients and got so many beautiful shots. I want to personally say THANK YOU to all of our clients. Our studio has grown SO much in the past year - without you guys we wouldn't be here! My dream of owning my own studio has become a reality - and my husband was able to leave his full time job in August of 2010 and join me full time here at the studio. It's so wonderful to be able to do something that you love to do and meet so many wonderful people (and animals!) in the process. I have also made lots of FRIENDS, not just gained clients, and have really enjoyed sharing special moments of your lives with you and capturing your most precious memories!

Things are finally slowing down a little and we are slowly getting everything caught up at the studio. We are working on lots of FUN promotions for 2011, updating the website and galleries, and scouting out new locations for shoots, plus browsing antique stores for new props! This is a fun time of year for us because we get to literally plan out the whole year of promotions and limited edition themes, design our postcards and fliers, go prop shopping and update our website with our break after the Christmas rush!

On a personal note...we FINALLY have our bathroom renovated! We are just finishing the details and it will be complete! Our studio has been chaotic since we started on it. Once I get the finishing touches done, I promise to post pics!

Wow! What a busy holiday season! This month has seriously FLOWN by. I am yet to do my own Christmas shopping, and we're finally down to wallpapering our bathroom and the tile will be installed this Wednesday! We've been so swamped with work, and working on the bathroom, that I haven't had a lot of time to blog! Sorry guys! I hope that you have been keeping up with our Facebook page - we post there daily with lots of previews from sessions we're working on, studio news and happenings, and other fun stuff. Once the holiday rush is over, we will be back to posting previews on our blog, too.

I just wanted to take a couple of minutes to post some deadlines for ordering and the holidays.

{ WINTER WONDERLAND } We have just 5 more days of our fun Winter Wonderland Limited Edition mini sessions that have falling snow and a surprise visit from Santa. The sessions end on 12/15 to allow enough time for editing and ordering before Christmas. Sessions are booked from 10am-4pm daily.

{ ORDERING DEADLINES } This is a particular thing that I want to update everyone on. I'm sure you know that custom products (such as Holiday cards, collages, Accordion Albums, and Storybooks/Brag Books) DO take a couple of days for creation, editing, proofing and making changes, etc. These customized products HAVE TO BE FINALIZED and sent to print by Friday, December 17th in order to get them back before Christmas.

I met little "S" (and her stuffed "Kitty") and her parents at the park for her two year session. The leaves are just beginning to change, and little "S" was dressed for the occasion! The "J" family were willing to be my guinea pigs for a Sofa Session idea...

We carried out the antique sofa from our waiting area and used it for the "J" family's session. I absolutely LOVE the way the photos look - casual, natural and a fresh & fun twist on family portraits!

After the family shots, we let little "T" run around and play and got some gorgeous shots of her in the grass!

Funny Little "W" { Winston Salem Children's Photographer }

I laughed my butt off at little "W" during his 9 month session. He was SOOO happy and full of smiles. He did great indoors and outdoors, but was determined to eat the grass outside! We had some colorful apples that were so realistic, little "W" decided to take a bite of one of them!

We went back inside and his mom put him in his Halloween costume, which was TOO cute. A turtle - complete with gloves/paws! It was soooo funny to watch him crawl around with a shell on his back, then he fell over on his shell and couldn't get back up! He was the cutest little guy! Here's a sneak peek for mom...

Our first year at Rock the Block in downtown Winston Salem was long (16 hours!) but FUN! We met SO many people - it was great! We were a bit unprepared, though...we ran out of business cards before dark!

The morning started out breezy, well take that back, gusty! Everything was blowing over, balloons were popping and I couldn't set out anything on easels! Finally, the wind died down around noon and I was able to set up all of our goodies. We had no clue what to expect, but we were SHOCKED when people started coming in. And coming in. And coming in. I was thinking maybe a couple thousand people would show up, but even after dark, the streets were literally packed shoulder-to-shoulder. It was so tight, like a sold-out concert! Crazy! When I picked up the Sunday paper, the story was on the front cover and they said by 4pm on Saturday, they had already exceeded last year's attendance of 40,000 people! They haven't released final attendance numbers yet, but I can't wait to see what they were!

On Sunday, we got up and packed up for an early morning pet session at Old Salem. The dogs were SO funny - "Stewie" got off of his leash and started to run, so my husband ran after him, not knowing that he LOVED to be chased, LOL. Stewie would run a couple feet, then stop and look back to see if my husband was still chasing him. I laughed the WHOLE way home about that. I love working with animals, just like people, they each have their own personality and things that they enjoy doing. For Stewie, it was being chased :-)

Wow! We've been so busy working on the studio and going to festivals that I just realized how long it's been since I've blogged! Sorry guys! We are putting the finishing touches on the studio and will post some pics soon! Promise! We had a blast working with Daisy and her "human" parents! She was wide open and SO curious! We had to be quick about getting the shots we wanted, especially the shots of her in the pink pail :-) But her pictures turned out TOO CUTE and Daisy looked adorable on polka-dots!

Cute little "T" did SO good during his newborn session! He didn't cry ONCE, or fuss during clothing changes...he did "grunt" a lot, which was really cute! I even had to stop photographing for a second because I was giggling so much, lol. He dozed during the session and I got some really cute shots. My favorite is the one without a hat below - okay, and I love the sleepy smirk, too!

Sweet "C" had grown SO much since I did her 3 month portraits, I almost couldn't believe it! She looked absolutely ADORABLE in a tutu and pearls, and I got lots of awesome shots of her beautiful blue eyes :-)

Sweet little "B" came to the studio for her 6 month session and got to be a star! She had lots of outfit changes and different hats to wear, but I think she was happiest rolling around on the fuzzy rug playing with her feet and hanging out in just her diaper, lol! I got some adorable shots of her gazing into the camera lens! Her pictures are really pretty in color, but gorgeous in black & white!

Four Generations of Pretty Girls! { Winston Salem Family Photographer }

I was so excited to have the opportunity to create this very special family portrait. Four generations of beautiful ladies! It was a really HOT evening, but the session went perfect and the shots I got were GREAT :-) It was fun to work with these girls and get to know them, plus see the love they shared for each other. I had grandma and great-grandma hold hands and they were just filled with giggles, and talked about how long it had been since they had done that. It was a great feeling to see them do it again for the first time! It was also fun to let little "A" choose her own pose and have grandma do it with her. I love letting children choose a shot to do the way they want to do it and make it fun for them!

Little Miss "E" is turning 1! { Winston Salem Event Photography }

Little Miss "E" is turning one and mom threw her a fun birthday party! The theme was "Candy Land" and Miss "E" had her own Sweet Shoppe! My husband and I enjoyed shooting the party (and the enormous Pixie Sticks we took home with us!). We even got to catch up with a few of our other clients who attended the birthday bash! It was a blast!

Precious Little "B" { Winston Salem Newborn Photography }

Sweet Little "B" came to the studio this week for his first session ever :-) He was only a week old, but VERY awake and alert, so I got lots of great shots with his eyes open. His mom told us that he liked to be swaddled, so I knew he would be cozy and happy in a little cocoon. A couple weeks ago, when I went out "prop shopping", I found a big banana leaf tray that I couldn't resist. And when sweet little "B" got snuggled down in the crochet cocoon, he was happy as a bug laying on the leaf! It turned out ADORABLE!
