Spencer destroys her cake...

I can't believe it's been a year since doing Spencer's mom's maternity session and shortly after, meeting little Spencer for the first time (you might remember her newborn session here).  

Spencer is growing up fast, already walking and that hair - oh my goodness, she is the cutest with that little curl falling in her face!

Spencer's mom and I planned for a colorful cake smash set and it turned out perfect!  Spencer was SO funny when we got to the actual cake smashing.  When we first sat the cake down in front of her, she scooted back - as far away as she could get from the cake!  Haha.  We slid her over back over to the cake again, and once she got a quick taste of it, she was all about it's yumminess, although she would occasionally stop playing in it long enough to look up at her parents and make sure that it was OKAY to do it.  She was even for getting handfuls of icing and smearing it in her hair :)

Peyten's Fall Session { winston salem baby photographer }

Peyten's Fall Session...

Last December, we met little Peyten and his sweet mom when we did his cake smash session at our studio.  He was so cute and had the biggest dimples and not much hair (you might remember him here).  I about hit the grass when I saw these two a few weeks ago and Peyten had RED HAIR to go with those adorable dimples!  Oh my goodness.  He kills me!  He was so sweet and had a blast playing with bubbles in the grass, and he loved his hat!  It was fun spending the evening with them - the sky was cloudy and it was quite windy - I think we had the outer edge of a hurricane passing through - but it didn't stop Peyten and his mom from enjoying their session and giggling the entire time!

I'm not normally big on shooting black and white images, because I love nature and the colors that life offers us.  I love for my images to reflect how I'm seeing things through my lens.  But I have to admit, I fell in love with this shot of Peyten and his mom in black and white.  There is so much feeling and emotion in it as a black and white image  :)

Sadie & Nick { pet photographers winston salem }

 

Sadie and Nick...

Oh my goodness!  Sadie and Nick were so sweet the morning that we went to their home for a pet session!  It was getting hot already so we tried to stay in the shade, but Sadie made me giggle when she SMILED at me first thing when we got there.  She really smiled.  I giggled because it reminded me of my Gretchen that we just recently adopted who also smiles!  Smiling dogs - they are the best!
We did a couple of shots of Sadie (who was a major HAM and loved posing for pictures) and Nick (who tried to play shy) together, and we also did some individuals of the two.  Sadie has a kitty buddy who kept trying to sneak into the pictures, too, named Pal - I was even able to snap a quick behind the scenes shot of the two cuddling as we were finishing up the session!  Their humans (who were also extremely nice and fun to work with) tell me that Pal and Sadie snuggle and hug ALL THE TIME and follow each other around!  It was so cute - like the unlikely animal friends that you see on television!  :)

The "M" Grandchildren { winston salem family photographers }

The "M" Grandchildren...
Okay, so I had no clue what to expect the afternoon that we had the "M" family on the schedule.  The weather was so hot and sunny, the clouds were rolling in fast, and we had four kiddos that hadn't seen us in a while that we needed to photograph before the storm arrived. 

The "M" family wanted to get all of the grandchildren in one place for a session and get just one picture of all of them together.  We love these types of sessions.  It's so funny because we hear stories about how the moms tried to get the kids together for a picture before and it was a disaster, so they thought they'd let us take a shot at it and see if we could do any better.  Last year we had seven grandchildren under the age of six ALL in one shot, and if we pulled THAT off, four would be a breeze.  And the "M" grandchildren were so good for us that day!   

We beat the storm by ten minutes, and the four children - oh my.  They were a lot of fun and behaved so well!  Of course, there was mention of candy and ice cream and all things bribery during the session, but they did great and the shots turned out wonderful  :)

The "C" Family...

We spent the morning at the "C" family's beautiful home to capture their extended family and individual shots of little "A" for her first birthday.  Their neighbor had a wonderfully landscaped back yard that he let us use for their session, and even their dog Winston joined in for a few shots.  Okay, so Winston joined in for a lot of shots.  He was a ham and loved posing for the camera - really!  He actually plopped right into place for the shots, so it ended up looking as if we posed him, but we didn't!  Haha.  Animals are so funny.  The "C" family were wonderful and easy to work with and we were able to capture some great shots for them, and we hope Miss "A" had an amazing first birthday!  :)

The "W" Family { pet & family photographers winston salem }

The "W" Family, and Chunky and Piggly...
We met the "W" family at Old Salem for an early morning session to try to beat the hot, summer heat, but it didn't work.  It was a super hot day, even at 10:00 am!  We scheduled their session to not only to capture them as a family with their furry family members, but Chunky is fighting cancer, so we wanted to make sure to spend some time capturing memories of that sweet guy for them to have forever.  It was a fun session!  Chunky and Piggly were so behaved, especially being in a new place with tons of new people, new scents, and of course, right outside of a restaurant, haha.  These boys did so good and so did their little sister, Avery!  We loved seeing the "W" family again and spending the morning with all of them  :)
